(1887-1970)
Military adviser to Chiang Kai-shek. A Londoner, he worked in the Chinese quarter of Edmonton, Alberta, and became a friend of the Chinese communist leader, Sun Yat-sen in exile. He joined him in China in 1922, and helped reorganize the army. He fought against Japanese invaders and communist rebels. Later he settled in Manchester.
